Beyond the camera - Manos Papadomanolakis

There are several types of nature photographers – “Content photographers” photograph everything and often without any great effort for good picture. They mainly care about the content, i.e. the real scenes seen in the nature. The second group, probably the most common nowadays are “photographers technicians“ (as I am I think) – they focus on getting technically perfect picture and publish everything that is technically OK, they delete bad pictures and love beautiful photographs – such a pictures usually comes as a coincidence, unexpected gift from the nature. The last and less numbered group are “photographers artists” who mainly care about the aesthetic value of the picture – content is important for them, the picture must be technically excellent and it must have something extra within, something fascinating that is called “wow factor”. They usually publish only those best of best pictures and they have what we call talent and idea. For me Manos Papadomanolakis is such a photographer.

I met this talented photographer from Crete at the forum of www.juzaphoto.com. (as well as many other great nature photographers). I noticed his work ca. 2 years ago when he won one of the Photos of the Week at the same website with one of his beautiful pictures. You can check his website www.manospapadomanolakis.com to realize that it is really quality and not quantity what matters to him – during those few years he has been doing nature photography his portfolio numbers only few tens of pictures although I’m sure he has, as we other do, thousands of pictures in his database.

I am fascinated by those, who are able to see thing differently than the others, by those who buy a camera and start making beautiful images right away…that is that talent, sense of colours and interesting composition…that is what we – the other photographers – must hardly learn using the process of trial and error. For me, such a talented photographer is certainly Manos.

Ale musim rict ze jsi me velice prijeme prekvapil velice zajimavymi clanky (i fotografiemi), ktere jsem si prave vsechny docetl! Mas muj obdiv, jde ti to vsechno ze srdce. Mas pravdu, napsat neco takoveho o nekom je vazne obdivuhodne v dnesni dobe. Je fajn videt, ze nekdo v dnesnim svete nejde pres mrtvoly a dokaze se nad spousty veci povznest.
